Don Thomson Jr. Captures Fourth Straight CASCAR Championship

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 21, 2004) -- Don Thomson Jr. finished third in the BERMS-R-US.com 250 at Kawartha Speedway and captured the 2004 CASCAR Super Series championship. It was the fourth straight Super Series title and, counting the two CASCAR Eastern Championships he won preceding the national titles, it means Thomson has won six straight CASCAR championships.

Thomson had the car to beat all season long. When he won the pole at Kawartha, it was his fifth straight and his eighth of the 12 races this season.

Goodyear provides the tires for all CASCAR series, having designed and built tires specifically for racing on Canadian tracks.

Kerry Micks won the race after starting seventh and Jim Lapcevich finished second. Thomson was third, followed by Mark Dilley and Ron Sheridan.

Micks took the lead with six laps remaining in the 250-lap event and beat Lapcevich by 1.448 seconds.
