Jacombs Finishes Just Outside Top Ten in Peterborough
Peterborough, ON: The #88 Jacombs Racing Team finished just outside the top ten on Saturday at Peterborough Speedway, in the Power Water 200 with an eleventh place finish. Peterborough Speedway is renowned for it's fast paced action and this event continued that tradition.
The Lou's BBQ/Inroble International/FAG Automotive/CPS Flooring Taurus of Jacombs practiced mid pack all day long as they fought with the set-up and time trialed 18th overall. Dave knew that staying on the lead lap would be difficult as this 1/3 mile track is very fast.
The start of the Power Water 200 saw points leader Don Thomson Jr. pull out in front where he remained until lap 53 when the caution came out for the second time, the first time being on lap 2. By this time Thomson Jr. had put all but twelve cars down a lap including the #88 Jacombs Taurus. The strategy for the remainder of the race was to stay out of trouble, no small feat on this night and try to bring the Lou's BBQ Taurus home in one piece.
"The race tonight was tough," stated Jacombs. "There were cars beating and banging on each other the whole race but we were still running at the end," he added. 'The car is a little worse for wear but we have lots of spare body panels and will have it ready to go for next weeks race at Delaware."
The race was marred by 8 cautions totalling 60 laps but all in all the fans saw a lot of racing action.
Finish: 1. #4 Don Thomson Jr. 2. #1 Peter Gibbons 3. #02 Kerry Micks 11. #88 Dave Jacombs.
