Fuel management was important in the outcome of the 'Blue Streak presents the Mosport 250'. CASCAR's rulebook dictates that the last five laps of a race must be run under green flag conditions. On the ovals, this rule rarely has an impact on the outcome of races, when it comes to cars being able to go the extra distance under caution. But on the 2.459-mile Mosport road course, every additional late-race caution lap burns up a considerable amount of fuel. At the end of the race on Sunday, Kennington reported that he was very concerned about how much fuel was left in the tanks of his Castrol Syntec Intrepid by the time the extra caution laps were added

Third place Mosport finisher Kerry Micks almost saw his points lead evaporate on Sunday, along with the fumes in the gas tank of his Ford Taurus. Micks ran out of gas on the long Andretti straight, but was fortunately able to coast back to his pit stall without losing too much ground. If he'd run out of gas just seconds earlier, or later, he would have been stranded out on the course. Following four races, the Mt. Albert, ON racer leads Blue Streak Intrepid driver Al Turner by 23 points in the hunt for the Castrol Cup. Micks has held the lead since winning the season opener at Delaware Speedway on May 20

Proving that his successful 2000 season was no fluke, Speedy Taurus racer Dave Jacombs posted his second consecutive fourth-place finish in the last two races, on Sunday at Mosport. The Mt. Hope, ON resident is just 13 points out of second place in the Castrol Cup standings.
