Kerry Micks takes seventh in Vortex Brake Pads 200 on Mosport Speedway oval; Team works with new car setup BDI Ford Fusion for round seven of NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO (August 8, 2009) -- Running on a track that he has raced at more than any other, Kerry Micks finished seventh in the running of the Vortex Brake Pads 200 on the Mosport Speedway oval course over the weekend.
The 200-lap race on the half-mile oval was round eight in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series for 2009.
"We had a little bit of a struggle," said Micks after the race, who drives the Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion in the series. "We've gone to a different setup with the car, and we are still learning."
The team qualified well back in 16th position in the 21-car field, but Micks worked his way up to seventh at the end. It was the first race for the Mount Albert, Ontario racer since returning from the three-race NASCAR Canadian Tire Series tour in Western Canada.
Micks also noted he has spent many hours racing on the oval northeast of Toronto, and he won the very first race at the track after it was changed from dirt to asphalt in 1988.
Micks is confident the new car setup is a positive move, and will be prepared for future races in the series.
The next race is the August 16 running of the GP3R on the 1.53-mile temporary road circuit at Trois-Rivières, a race that Micks won in 2007.
"I'm looking forward to running at Trois-Rivières," he mentioned. We're "hoping for a good run."
