Beyond Digital Imaging Ford driver sets qualifying record and places third in NASCAR event

MONTREAL, QUEBEC (August 2, 2008) -- Kerry Micks returned to the podium with a third-place finish in the NAPA 100 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, the seventh event in the 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in front of the capacity crowd.

After starting on the pole for the race, Micks, of Mount Albert, Ontario, stayed up front in the 33-car field with his Beyond Digital Imaging Ford in the 23-lap race. He said he was biding his time to see if the leaders slipped up, and although there was some aggressive driving in front of him, he followed winner Andrew Ranger and runner-up Scott Steckly across the finish line.

"We came here with the goal of finishing on the podium and we were able to do that," Micks said. "Those guys up front were really going at it. I was hoping to possibly sneak in there if they got over aggressive, but we just never got the opportunity. We're happy with the finish, though. This is such a great track to race and the all the fans make it fun."

Micks, the defending NAPA 100 champion, set a track record in qualifying for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Sirius Satellite Radio race on the Villeneuve circuit, home of the Canadian Grand Prix. He worked his way around the 14-turn, 2.710-mile road course in 106.664 seconds for an average lap speed of 91.465 mph to start the race in the first position.

With his finish in this race, he is presently fifth in the points standings.
