Marc Miller completes successful CASCAR test.
Racesportz Tide Racing Team plans to bring talented American to CASCAR series.
Bowmanville, Ontario -- Marc Miller recently completed a successful test with Racesportz Tide Racing, a Canadian based Canadian Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (CASCAR) team, at Mosport Park this past weekend.
What began as a test for an opportunity to sign with the team as a back-up driver at all road course events for 2002 has become a solid opportunity at a testing and race program with plans to enter the CASCAR SuperSeries in 2003. Team owner and driver of the Racesportz Tide Racing CASCAR team, David Connelly, was impressed by Miller's ability to adjust to the 500+ HP stock car.
"We brought Marc in as a pacesetter," said Connelly. "It is nice when you can bring in a driver like Marc who is very talented and can push the car hard. Within the first half-hour session, Marc was already adjusted and turning some really quick laps."
Connelly was also impressed with Miller's feedback and ability to build a working relationship with the team.
"Having Marc here gave a chance for my crew to work with someone else, someone they may not be familiar with," Connelly said. "With us both in the car, we can both provide information for the team and Marc can pick up on a few other things that need to be changed. The bottom line is that the car got faster and faster all day so obviously it was working well."
Miller was equally excited about the possibility of coming back to continue a testing relationship with the team.
"I was surprised on how quickly I was able to adjust from a light formula car to a heavy, high-horsepower stock car," said Miller. "The team was great to work with, very supportive and made me feel comfortable right from the start. When you have guys that believe in you on the team and preparing the car, the transition is that much easier. I am looking forward to getting more seat time working out a long term relationship with this team."
The possibility for Miller to enter the 2003 CASCAR SuperSeries is definitely there after the early testing results.
"We were really happy with everything that happened (at the Mosport test) and we will be back to Mosport in a few weeks and have asked Marc to come back up," said Connelly. "We are working on a deal for a second car for our CASCAR SuperSeries program and are definitely looking at Marc. That is our next goal. If we can put the deal together, we want Marc to come up and drive."
Racesportz Tide Racing team will test at Mosport Park on May 10.
