Hamilton, Ontario: Dave Jacombs in the #88 Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Taurus notched his second 7th place finish in as many starts in Saturday's Flex-Mor 150 in Peterborough. The Speedy Taurus has proven to be a consistent runner early in the 2001 season resulting in their current sixth place standing in the Chase for the Castrol Cup.

Jacombs practice times were strong and the team was hopeful for a top qualifying position for the feature event but some last minute changes to the car made it loose. When time trials finished Jacombs had posted the 20th fastest time. Seventeen cars broke the previous CASCAR track record of 14.640 set by Earl Ross in 1997. D.J. Kennington's #17 was quickest with a 14.253. The #88 Speedy Taurus came out for the final qualifier where Jacombs brought it across the finish line in second and resulting in an 18th starting spot for the main event.

Dave Jacombs fought with lapped cars all night long in this caution filled event. Staying out of trouble proved difficult but Jacombs managed to bring the Speedy Taurus across the finish line in 7th. A happy Jacombs said after the event, "We were just off a little bit in the set up for qualifying and that put us way back in the field for the start. With the lapped cars lining up on the inside on restarts it was difficult to move up as I was racing to get by them and then another caution would come out and we would do it all over again. I am happy with two sevenths as consistency will go a long way to keeping us up front in the points chase."

The next event on the schedule for the #88 Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Performance Exhaust Taurus team is the official opening of the Speedy Auto Service store on Byrne Drive in Barrie next Saturday June 2nd. Then it will be on to the third event on the schedule at Mosport Raceway Saturday June 9th.
