MICKS WINS WHELEN 200 CASCAR RACE AT AUTODROME St. EUSTACHE

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada (June 5, 2005) - Kerry Micks took the lead with 83 laps remaining and went on to win the Whelen 200 CASCAR Super Series race at the Autodrome St.-Eustache.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for CASCAR racing. The tiremaker supplies bias-ply tires designed specifically for racing in Canada.

Micks edged runnerup D.J. Kennington by .388 of a second at the end of the 200-lap race around the 4/10 mile oval. Ron Beauchamp Jr. was third, followed by Don Thomson Jr. and Dave Jacombs. Thomson led five laps early in the going before giving way to Dave Whitlock. Whitlock led 96 consecutive laps until Micks took the point.

Peter Gibbons recorded the fastest lap in time trials with a circuit averaging 81.049 mph. It was the first pole for Gibbons since he started at the front of a race at Cayuga Speedway on June 29 of 2003.

Beauchamp finished the day with the championship lead. He leads second-place runner Thomson Jr., 322-309. Whitlock is third with 299.
