MICKS WINS CASCAR ROAD RACE AT VILLENEUVE CIRCUIT

MONTREAL, Quebec, Canada (Aug. 27, 2006) -- Veteran stock car racer Kerry Micks became the first two-time winner of the 2006 CASCAR Super Series season when he captured the CASCAR 100 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve road racing course.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for CASCAR racing and is the sponsor of the Goodyear Belts & Hoses Fastest Lap Award, given to the driver who records the fastest lap during each Super Series race. Robin Buck, who led a portion of the race, had the fastest lap at Gilles Villeneuve.

The CASCAR Super Series has a rich tradition of road racing, but this event was the first visit for the Canadian stock car racers to the Gilles Villeneuve course. Both Micks and Buck, who finished second, already had CASCAR road racing victories to their credit.

Micks led the first 11 laps before slipping in turn 10 and allowing Buck to pass him. Micks returned the favor on lap 17 when he passed Buck in the same corner to take the lead back. Micks led the remainder of the 23-lap race around the 2.747-mile, 14 turn course.

Scott Steckly finished third, followed by Jim Lapcevich and D.J. Kennington. Mark Dilley won the pole.

J.R. Fitzpatrick leads the championship standings by just 11 points. Micks is second.
