DILLEY WINS CASCAR RACE AND TITLE GOES TO FITZPATRICK

PETERBOROUGH, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 17, 2006) -- Mark Dilley won the Dodge Dealers of Ontario Dodge Charger 250 CASCAR Super Series race but 18-year-old driver J.R. Fitzpatrick won the series championship on the final day of the season at Kawartha Speedway.

Dilley became the ninth driver to win a race during the 11-race season when he edged five-time defending series champion Don Thomson Jr. by .256 of a second. Dilley averaged 52.479 mph over the 250-lap race around the 3/8-mile oval.

Fitzpatrick finished ninth in the race. He beat Thomson for the title by a final edge of 1,868 points to 1,823.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for CASCAR racing and is the sponsor of the Goodyear Belts & Hoses Fastest Lap of the Race Award. Thomson won the Award.

In the race, Dilley and Thomson were followed to the finish by D.J. Kennington, Scott Steckly and Derek Lynch. Kennington also posted the best lap in qualifying with a lap averaging 74.65 mph.
