Toronto, Ontario: Dave Jacombs in the Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Performance Exhaust/FAG Automotive Taurus started the 36-lap CASCAR at the Toronto Molson Indy, presented by NAPA in the 17th starting position and after a late race incident took the checkered flag in 18th.

The Jacombs Racing Team were looking for a good result to help turn around their season and it appeared they were on the road to a top ten. Jacombs settled into the top twenty early in the race and by lap 25 was into the top ten and chasing down the cars ahead. With a little over two laps remaining, the entire turn seven area of the track was blocked when some lapped cars mixed it up with some lead lap cars and Jacombs had nowhere to go when he rounded the turn. When the dust settled, the front end of the car was heavily damaged but the Speedy Taurus was able to limp around the remaining laps and salvage a 18th place finish.

Jacombs commented after the race "I had hopes for a top ten today. The car was really lose in practice and qualifying but we made some changes and it seemed the longer we ran the better it got in the race. We just can't seem to buy a break this year and it seems that if something is going to happen on the track we are caught up in the middle of it. We will just have to keep working hard though and hopefully some better finishes will come our way," he added.

Podium finishers: 1. Kevin Dowler 2. Joe Goncalves 3. Robin Buck 18. Dave Jacombs

The Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Performance Exhaust Team now head for the western swing of the schedule starting with Race City Speedway in Calgary and twin 100 lap qualifying features on Friday July 19th and the Mopar 300 on Sunday July 21st. Then it is on to the 2nd appearance for CASCAR at the Vancouver Indy on Saturday July 27th.
