Jacombs puts Mosport behind him and looks to Cayuga Canada Day Shootout.
Oshawa, ON: The #88 Speedy Auto Service Taurus team of Dave Jacombs had another tough night at the track in the Exide Batteries presents the Mosport 250 on Saturday at the Mosport Oval. Jacombs, who has previous good finishes at this 1/2 mile banked oval, was forced to pit road on lap 143 when his motor expired.
The Speedy Taurus driver who was coming off a thrilling podium finish at the Mosport Road Course one week prior, had high hopes for another strong performance to help move him up in the standings but a disappointing 25th place was the result. An optimistic Jacombs said "We are going to Cayuga this weekend and that is my home track. I really like this place and with the NASCAR drivers coming and all the hype, a good finish here could help to turn our season around. We may not be in a championship hunt anymore but some good finishes in the high profile events like Cayuga or the Indy's will definitely help us salvage this season," he added.
The Canada Day Shootout is the next event on the schedule for the CASCAR Super Series Teams on Sunday June 30th. Five Winston Cup Drivers including Tony Stewart, Johnny Benson, Ken Schrader, Matt Kenseth and Dave Blaney will be in attendance along with Craftsman Truck Series driver Ted Musgrave. Festivities take place all day long from the opening of the gates at 10 a.m. until the fireworks display that will follow the Canada Day 100 lap Shootout at approximately 10:30 p.m.
The Speedy Auto Service/Dynomax Exhaust/FAG Automotive/Inroble Brakes Taurus will be heading to Port Perry for another Speedy sponsored "Cruise Day" on Canada Day, Monday July 1st. An estimated 900 cars will be in attendance for this, the second largest cruise day of the year at Haugen's BBQ.
