Sunday June 4, 2000: Barrie’s Al Turner in the #76 Blue Streak Intrepid made it two in a row yesterday by winning the Ford Quality Care 250 CASCAR event at Cayuga Speedway. Turner who finished the 1999 campaign with several second place finishes hoped that the momentum would carry over into 2000 and it appears that is the case as he takes home his second checkered flag in as many events.

Turner timed 13th fastest earlier in the day during the time trials and went on to win his qualifying heat race. This lined the #76 Blue Streak Intrepid up on the starting grid in 13th for the Ford Quality Care 250.

Turner took his time moving up through the pack while saving his tires. On lap 135 he pitted for fuel and tires and again started the march to the front. Lap 223 saw Turner take the lead from the #4 Home Hardware Chevrolet of Don Thomson Jr. whom Turner had battled for the win in the previous event at Delaware Speedway. It wasn’t long before the #1 Canadian Tire Chevrolet of Peter Gibbons was charging hard after Turner. During the final 25 laps Turner and Gibbons had the fans on their feet with Turner coming away victorious. An elated Turner did several victory donuts on the infield grass afterwards.

The next event on the schedule for the Turner Motorsports/Blue Streak Intrepid team is the UAP Napa/Auto Pro 150 at Ste. Eustache, PQ Saturday June 10, 2000.
