Goodyear-equipped drivers celebrate championships

Don Thomson Jr. won his third straight title, despite finishing behind his closest title rivals in the CASCAR Championship Showdown at Cayuga Speedway in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Thomson finished with 1,928 points. Kerry Micks (1,889) and D.J. Kennington (1,864) took the next two spots in the final standings.

The race was a wild affair with 11 different leaders. Pete Vanderwyst slipped by Dave Whitlock with two laps remaining and held on to win. Micks was third, Neil Fair took fourth and Kennington came in fifth.

** USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series: Benny Gordon won the Charley Campbell Memorial 250 at Jennerstown Speedway in Jennerstown, Penn. The race is the second of four post-season races between the top finishers in each division to determine the season champion.

Mart Nesbitt finished second in the race, just .594 of a second behind the winner. Jay Fogleman was third, Bobby Gill took fourth and Michael Ritch ended up fifth.

Danny O'Quinn won the Advance Auto Parts Pole Award with a lap averaging 95.853 mph around the half-time venue.
