Turner back on track with 5th at St. Eustache.

St. Eustache, Quebec: CASCAR's Al Turner in the #76 Blue Streak Racing Intrepid finished a solid 5th at the flat 4/10 mile oval at St. Eustache on Saturday night. The AUTOPRO / NAPA 150, scheduled as a 150 lap shootout was rain shortened and red flagged on lap 97 when the skies opened up for good on the night.

Turner who is off to an unusually slow start this season, with a 19th at Delaware and a 22nd at Peterborough was quick to comment after the race "We are really glad to get our first top 5 of the season. Hopefully this is the turnaround we have been looking for and we can build some momentum with this finish. The car was decent tonight so we're pleased with our overall performance here."

Turner and several of his fellow CASCAR Super Series competitors were fitted for the Hutchens device when representatives from a U.S. company visited the track on Saturday. With the speeds that the teams are reaching now on the road course venues of Mosport, Toronto and Vancouver, safety in the race cars has become an issue. These restraints are to protect the head and neck in a head on crash and Turner had this to say, "Safety has always been an issue with our team. We take it very seriously and have been researching these devices as well as crew helmets for the past couple of months. We have been taking the time to make sure we make the right decisions."

The Blue Streak Racing Team has moved unofficially into 12th in the CASCAR Super Series National Point Standings after three events. Race four will see the #76 Intrepid team take to the famed Mosport International Raceway road course on June 15/16. Turner has had a great deal of success on this track including a 5th here last year and looks forward to returning in 2002.

Podium finishers at St. Eustache included 1. #39 Dave Whitlock, Fast Lane Taurus 2. #4 Don Thomson Jr., Home Hardware Chevrolet 3. #17 D.J. Kennington, Castrol Intrepid.
