Stoner set to make shock return to track with Repsol Honda

Double MotoGP World Champion expected to be back on Honda machinery next month

Casey Stoner is set to shock the world after apparently agreeing to take part in a two day test with his former employers Repsol Honda with the news breaking today of the Australian’s decision to take up Honda’s request.

Stoner, who retired at the end of last season citing unhappiness of being away from his family so much, will test Honda’s 2014 RC213V as well as a new production based bike being introduced to the championship next year and the Japanese manufacturer’s main rival Yamaha is also developing a similar machine..

The official confirmation from HRC is expected today that the double MotoGP World Champion will take part in the test at the start of August but the company is denying outright that Stoner could make a return to the paddock next year. However speculation is rife following the news of the test coupled with Stoner’s apparent unhappiness at competing in the Dunlop V8 Supercars feeder class and his decision not to race in the prestigious Bathurst 1000.
