Wildcards announced for 2004 Cinzano Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix WSix Aussies for MotoGP duties

Motorcycling Australia has selected six riders to compete as wildcards in the 125 and 250 GP classes at the 2004 Cinzano Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix from October 15-17, with five of them returning from active duty in 2003.

Three riders have been selected in each class at the Phillip Island-hosted event, with the names still requiring final ratification from the FIM and the MotoGP Commission. The sextet is:

125 GP
* Bryan Staring - 17, from Padbury, WA
* Matthew Kuhne 16, Parkwood, Qld
* Brett Simmonds -- 22, Blackmans Bay, Tas

250 GP
* Peter Taplin -- 29, Beechboro, WA
* Mark Rowling -- 32, Turramurra, NSW
* Josh Waters -- 17, Mildura, Vic

Staring, who leads the 2004 Australian 125 GP Championship with just one round remaining at Phillip Island on September 11-12, is the only newcomer to the wildcard coterie in 2004. The only other major change is that the multi-talented Waters, now a full-time national Supersport campaigner, will move up from 125 to 250 for this year's proceedings.
