The most eagerly awaited weekend
For the first time this season World MotoGP comes to Europe as this weekend sees the first of the races to be held in Spain this year: The Spanish GP. The Repsol Honda Team will go to the race in Andalusia with the intention of having another successful race, just like in Qatar, and at the same time enjoy one of the most special weekends in the calendar.
The Repsol team is the big favourite to carry off the victory in Jerez: Casey Stoner will want to strengthen his position at the top of the rankings whilst Dani Pedrosa will be out to overcome the discomfort and pain in his arm to conquer the Spanish throne. At the same time the Italian in the Repsol Honda Team, Andrea Dovizioso, will be aiming to make progress and join his teammates in the battle for the victory. They will not have things all their own way though: Jorge Lorenzo will want to be on the top of the podium in front of a home crowd, whilst the Ducati riders will be fighting hard to improve their results.
And so excitement on the track in front of one of the vociferous and passionate crowds around is guaranteed. If there is something that characterises Jerez, something that makes it different from all the other races in the calendar, it is the spectacular atosphere in the stands and among the public: The whole city becomes a party, the town dresses up and the three day fiesta produces one of the most special weekends of the year, where the motorbikes are the stars.
All Spanish riders have the same point of view regarding this weekend`s race, it is one of the most eagerly awaited races of the year. Jerez is also a special venue for Marc Márquez, he won his first race in the Spanish Championship here. Now racing in Moto2 the Repsol rider wants to make up for the race in Qatar and give the fans in Jerez something to shout and sing about.
