Tadayuki Okada is optimistic for tomorrow's Portuguese Grand Prix after qualifying sixth this afternoon. Okada was up to provisional pole at one point in the second qualifying practice, but slipped back as other riders made better use of their qualifying rubber. World champion Alex Criville ended the session in ninth place while Sete Gibernau is eleventh.

TADY OKADA - 6th - 1'41.396 "For the first time this year, it feels really good on the bike. The team has been working hard to give me a bike I can feel comfortable on and I'd like to thank them for that. I was up there on pole for a while, but on my last run with qualifying tyres, I didn't do so well. I don't really like to use qualifiers because they move around so much and upset the balance of the bike. I think we have a good set-up for the race, though. I think we can be consistent and I'm definitely hoping for a podium finish. By that, I mean finishing on top of the podium of course! Normally I don't like slow corners so it's a bit of a surprise to be doing well here. This afternoon was less windy but in any case, the wind doesn't bother me when the bike is good. It's only a problem when I'm not comfortable on the bike".

ALEX CRIVILLE - 'th - 1'41.907 "Today things haven't gone well. After getting sixth position yesterday, I expected better but I was unable to. I'm having problems in one specific section of the track, the fourth intermediate, which runs from after the chicane back to the start/finish straight. I'm losing too much time there on every single lap. I'm finding it hard to be really confident opening the gas in that section and it's a problem. We need to work on that tomorrow so I can improve my feeling and find some more grip from the rear. We'll keep working in the warm-up tomorrow and try some different settings. Hopefully that will improve the bike".

SETE GIBERNAU - 11th - 1'41.957 "I'm not satisfied with the way qualifying went this afternoon. Things worked out well for us this morning and I finished the session in second place. But the temperature went up this afternoon and I have to admit that we didn't really react fast enough to that. We should have started changing the bike's set-up earlier. Still, I was able to do some consistent lap times and that bodes well for the race. I think the times we did today will turn out to be the race times. We worked more on setting the bike up for the race than on getting a good place in qualifying this afternoon. But we've improved every day so far and that makes me confident for tomorrow".
