Sebastián Porto finished third in the category of 250cc. in the Grand Prix of Portugal, disputed over 25 laps under a constant rain in Estoril, eleventh round of the World Championship. This is the third consecutive podium for the argentinian who secured that ¨I`m in the best moment of my career. It was a very complicated race because of the conditions of the track. At the begining, the motorbike has no grip, but the situation got better with the passing of the laps¨.
Porto arrived 7s342/1000 behind the spanish ¨Fonsi¨ Nieto (Aprilla), who won the race in 53m58s901, followed by the italian Marco Melandri also with Aprillia at 684/1000 of the winner.
With this result, Marco Melandri keeps leading the championship with 215 points, followed by ¨Fonsi¨ Nieto with 183, Rodolfo Rolfo 140 and Sebastián Porto 110. The argentinian who took the pole position on saturday (the first for him) but he has problems in the benning of the competition, because the tyres doesn`t has the grip necessary. But he used the head to not make any mistake and advance positions. ¨I have luck because in the track I would finish fifth, bur lots of drivers made mistakes. In this conditions is a lottery, and my strategy was to score lots of points. I tried not to make mistakes, and I didn`t¨, said the driver of 23 years. Sebastián dedicated the third position to the argentinians (¨This podium is for all my country, I miss so much when I`m outside¨, he said) and his team because ¨we made a great advance this three races. The target is to finish the highest as posible but here I have no pressures¨.
Of course that Porto wants a motorbike to win the next season: ¨If Yamaha doesn`t makw a new motobike it will be difficult to keep running in 250cc. In GP might be. I know that with this results lots of gates will be open. We `ll see what happen¨. What is sure is that Sebastián will test a car of Turismo Carretera. A team offer me the car, and I liked the idea. It`s just for a couple of laps and I will enjoy it a lot¨ said the argentinian driver.
