Sebastian Porto did everything he could at the sixth round of the 250cc Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (MOTOGP) disputed at the 4.727m. cicrcuit of Catalunya, Montmelo.

Despite the effort of the Argentinian and his team to get a good result from this competition, Porto arrived seventh, one more time, far away of the winner Randy de Puniet, of course driving an Aprilia.

During friday and saturday the bike of Porto was good, from less to more and the expectatives were very positive before the race. On sunday a fantastic start allow Porto to lead during the initial lap, but when the field took the straight of 1.000m the Aprilia ate the factory(?) Honda 250 RSW.

¨It was a very difficult race. We did a good start. I believed that the bike was to more. But already in the first lap, after led for a while, the Aprilia just fulminated me. The chassis and the engine are in their top. This is the limit of the Honda 250 RSW. Alberto Puig (team owner) and I did all we could this weekend. We don`t deserve this¨ said Sebastian.

While Porto fought against his own bike a few seconds ahead De Puniet, Poggiali, Fonsi Nieto and company were trying to win the new edition of the Catalunya Grand Prix. The Italian Poggiali seemed to be the big candidate (again) but he retired with a mechanic problem in his Aprilia. This situation left the road to the French and the Spanish, De Puniet and Nieto. After a hard dispute during the 23 laps of competition (108km.) De Puniet, 22 years, took his first victory at the 250cc. Word Championship with the Aprilia of the Safilo Oxydo-LCR team.

But let`s return to Porto and his Honda. What`s happening here? Someone believe that Honda isn`t prepared to build a bike to fight in equal conditions with Aprilia. At Montmelo Sebastian wasn`t able to defend his position with the Yamaha of Matsudo neither!

The problem isn`t the dominium of Aprilia, it is the develop work of the Honda Racing Competition.

Roberto Rolfo, the other factory driver, who has the new elements of HRC arrived ninth and he was during all the weekend behind Porto.

¨There was a big tyre wear. The problems here aren`t the same of a week ago at Mugello. I`m very disspointed. The expectatives were different for this race. In the qualify session we are able to do two, or three good laps, but during the competition it`s impossible. We lost a lost lap by lap to end at 11.883 seconds of Randy (De Puniet). I hope that HRC give us new elements for the next race at Assen. The only good thing is that I finished seventh as the best factory Honda, ahead Rolfo. I`m giving 100% but the bike isn`t enough competitive¨ completed Porto.

The championship keep with Poggiali as leader with 88 points near followed by Toni Elias (he arrived fourth), De Puniet and Nieto, the three with 81. Rolfo has 76 and Battatini 58. Porto is eight with 53 points along with Anthony West and Matsudo, both in a great job at Montmelo.

The next round will be at Assen, Holland on June 28th.
