After thirteen years, the motorsport fans of Argentina will be able to once again enjoy a Grand Prix at home, following MotoGP’s return to the country in 2013, planned to take place at the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo, in Santiago del Estero province.

The dream is now a reality more than ever following the official presentation of the race held on Tuesday evening at the “Museo del Bicentenario”, located right behind the Casa Rosada, the seat of the Argentinean government.

Italian rider Andrea Dovizioso, who specially flew in from Europe to take part in the event, showed himself very excited with the return of MotoGP to Argentina. "It will be a great show for the people", stated the MotoGP rider, and remarked how important it is for the Argentinian fans to enjoy MotoGP live again instead of watching it on television.

Along with Dovizioso was the Secretary of Tourism of Argentina, Mr. Enrique Meyer, who confirmed the three year contract to have the race at least until 2015.

Dr. Gerardo Zamora, Governor of Santiago del Estero, also joined the stage to show his pride of having MotoGP at his province in what he feels will be a major opportunity to show the tourist attractions that it has to offer to the world.

Enrique Aldama, general director of Dorna Sports, knows the importance of having a MotoGP event in this region, "For us, return to South America, and in particular to Argentina, means to recognize that there had been lots of races here and I believe that is important for us to come back and show that this is a place to stay.

“That is Dorna's idea, to growth even more in Latin America, specially in Argentina, where you have a tradition and a way of understanding motorcycling as we do", he said and added “We hope we could be here not only for three years, but for much longer time, because that would be a success for everybody."

Termas de Río Hondo, located in the northwest of Argentina, is a tourist attraction with its thermal springs and has a warm climate all year long. It is 65 kilometers away from Santiago del Estero city and 1,150 km from Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires.

Despite being one of the most important racing facilities in the country, the Autódromo Termas de Río Hondo will undergo major changes to receive MotoGP. Representatives of Dorna will visit the racetrack this week to start planning work that must be done in order to have everything perfect to host the race in 2013.

The return of MotoGP to Argentina will be the second main event for the country in motorsport’s world calendar with the fourth edition of the Dakar Rally in South America starting at Mar del Plata city.
