Marquez: “If I carried on pushing, I would have crashed”
Marc Marquez says he had to ride on the limit to stick with Jorge Lorenzo in the opening part of the Czech Grand Prix, to the extent he feared he would crash.

Despite arriving at Brno fresh from a third win of the season at Indianapolis, Marquez was unable to keep up with a dominant Lorenzo as the race progressed and was forced to settle for second.
The Honda rider admitted after the race that he had to push to the maximum to stay with Lorenzo in the early stages, and then switched his focus to defending his position from Valentino Rossi behind when his tyres began to fade.
I was on the limit; I thought if I continue like this I will crash.

“Yesterday I already saw Jorge had a little bit more [pace] than us,” said the Spaniard.
“In the first part of the race I tried to follow Jorge and I rode at 100 percent for a few laps, then when the tyre dropped, the problems were there.
“I started to struggle with rear grip and I was on the limit on the front; I thought if I continue like this I will crash.
“I saw the gap to Valentino was already big and I tried to keep this gap. We can be happy [with second] because we know this circuit is one of the more difficult for me.”
Lorenzo the man to beat at Silverstone
Marquez now has 52 points to make up to his two title rivals Lorenzo and Rossi, and the Spaniard thinks beating Lorenzo next time out at Silverstone will be a tough ask.
“[At Silverstone] it will be difficult to beat Jorge again, but we will try; we will do our best,” said Marquez.
“It’s so difficult to close the gap, and be stronger than both of them every weekend because both of them are really good.
“But anyway we try, we crashed [in practice] and we came back, and so we’re happy with the result and we will try to continue this way.”
