Honda’s Marc Marquez believes the Japanese manufacturer has identified its main weakness compared to rivals Yamaha and Ducati.
Marquez finished on the podium in third place in the season opener in Qatar.
While he was happy with the outcome of the grand prix, the Spaniard said the closing seconds of the race highlighted the problem as he was powerless to stop Andrea Dovizioso taking second place back – despite outbraking him into the final corner.
“I think everybody saw, on the exit of the last corner I was losing a lot – incredible” said Marquez. “Not only with Ducati but with Yamaha also.
“Today I was struggling to overtake Dovi, I was behind him all the race. Even before the practice we know that we were losing about four tenths with Ducati and three tenths to Yamaha on acceleration. It’s something that we must work on.
“We are not 100 percent with electronics, we are not 100 percent with engine, so we must keep working on that, and the tyres.”
