Honda's Marc Marquez set the fastest time for the second MotoGP practice session as track conditions improved at the Circuit of the Americas.
Defending champion Marquez stamped his authority on the session, as better conditions started to prevail in the afternoon following a rain-affected morning session, the factory Honda rider leading the way ahead of LCR Honda’s Cal Crutchlow and Ducati rider Andrea Iannone.
Times started to fall moving into the second half of the session, and it was Marquez who capitalized on the improving conditions to eventually set a best time of 2m04.835s, with Crutchlow 0.327s behind and Iannone a further 0.028 back.
Aleix Espargaro improved on the factory Suzuki to set the fourth fastest lap, the Spaniard 0.729s off the top spot and 0.374s ahead of FP1 pacesetter Andrea Dovizioso in fifth, while in sixth place was top Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi.
Pol Espargaro got the better of Tech 3 teammate Bradley Smith, the duo finishing in seventh and 10th respectively, with the pair split by the Open class Forward Racing machine of Stefan Bradl and Yonny Hernandez's Pramac Ducati.
