Aprilia Racing rider Marco Bezzecchi has spoken out on Jorge Martin's absence from the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix and how this impacts the team.
Martin has had a terrible start to the year. After winning the 2024 championship, he joined Aprilia Racing in 2025. However, two pre-season testing crashes meant the Spanish rider took part in his first race this year in Qatar. Unfortunately, the race at the Lusail International Circuit, ended with another crash for Martin which saw him hospitalised with 11 cracked ribs and a punctured lung.
While speaking to the media ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend, Bezzecchi was asked about Martin's absence. He explained:
"It is obvious that there is a lot of disappointment, but our skill has to be to put these emotions aside, working and not giving a sh*t about everything. It's not nice to say that, but it's the reality."
Bezzecchi also opened up on the impact Martin's absence has on development.
"I honestly don't know [if there will be any set-up changes], we'll see. I am, however, confident in my team and the manufacturer I represent. Without Martin, I'm getting used to carrying on the development, aware that I have a lot of work to do. Of course there is Lorenzo Savadori and the Trackhouse team, but the fact remains that the absence of a rider like Martin, who I wish he returns as soon as possible, is not easy."
Confirming that he has been in touch with Martin, the rider added: "I sent him a message after Qatar. He was with his family, his companion."

Speaking about the weekend as a whole, the Italian rider is wanting to ride on his success at this track so far in his career:
"Jerez is a track that evokes good memories for me. I have, in fact, finished on the podium in all three categories, but this time I have no expectations. These sometimes create problems. However, I want to be confident that we will do a good job and that at home the guys have worked hard."
