Misano GP, FP1: both JiR riders quick with De Angelis on provisional pole
The GP of San Marino has begun well for the two JiR Team riders. In today's free practice session the two pushed hard from the very beginning, taking their places at the top of the timing sheets right from the start. It was clear that the latest technical changes have yielded good results and both riders are satisfied.
Simone Corsi made a good start, with a 1'40"607 during the ninth lap that lasted as best time until a few minutes from the end. Unfortunately a technical problem with his clutch meant he had to abandon the session having done only 13 laps. His time, however, gives him 9th position.
"I arrived in Misano with much enthusiasm, we've got an excellent technical package here and I want to make it work to bring home a good result. Beside the single lap time I believe I have a good pace, even if we couldn't test enough due to the technical problem. I'm confident that tomorrow I will start good again and fight to gain a front-row position."
It was a great debut from Alex De Angelis with the MotoBI, who took provisional pole position with a time of 1'40"064. The San-Marinese concentrated on learning the new machine, but already in early laps he was up with the leading riders, taking provisional pole on his 26th lap.
Alex De Angelis
"It's difficult to hide our satisfaction of this performance. Things went good immediately and I found a good feeling with the bike. I rode a lot to get more confidence and in this way I tested also my race pace, which is pretty satisfying. For tomorrow we'll need to make some fine-tuning work on the settings, in particular on the rear, but without upsetting anything because the basis is already good and I need to run again to sharpen my riding. I'm sure that with this performance we create high expectations, but I feel I can do great things with this team and we'll work hard not to disappoint our fans."
