MotoGP medical director Dr Angel Charte has passed reigning world champion Jorge Martin fit to take part in this weekend’s Qatar Grand Prix.

This means that the Spaniard will take to the track on the Aprilia RS-GP in tomorrow’s Free Practice 1 session as expected.

Martin, who has missed the first three race weekends of the season due to a Supermoto accident in February, has in principle been cleared for the entire meeting at Losail. However, as reported on Tuesday, he will undergo precautionary checks with Charte once he has ventured onto the circuit on Friday.

Having moved from Pramac Ducati to the works Aprilia squad for 2025, Martin’s campaign was derailed first by a testing accident at Sepang and then by the Supermoto incident in Catalonia.

His lengthy layoff means he has completed only a handful of laps on his new bike. The Madrid-born rider has already tempered expectations for his comeback appearance in view of what he expects to be ongoing pain as well as a lack of time on the RS-GP up until this point.

After visiting the previous round in the United States, Martin now links up with team-mate Marco Bezzecchi for the first time as the pair seek to form a productive working partnership.
