I "must take risks" despite healthy points lead - Marquez

MotoGP championship leader Marc Marquez says he still needs to take risks to secure this year's title despite his healthy lead at the top of the standings.

The Honda rider has a 43-point cushion over Yamaha rival Valentino Rossi with five races remaining, which in theory means he does not need to win any more races to secure his third MotoGP crown.

But while Marquez admits he is happy to cruise home when he is not feeling too strong, the Spaniard says he also needs to take risks when he can.

"The points are important, but also it's important to finish on the podium, so you must take risks, but with this advantage that I have you can control it a little bit if you feel, for example, like at Misano," said Marquez ahead of the Aragon Grand Prix.

"At Misano I didn't feel so good so then I needed to finish the race and finish in fourth. Of course to be consistent is very, very important. It's something that I learned last year and it's something that I'm trying to use this year.

"In the end it's important, but it's also important to take the risk and try to finish in front of Valentino and Jorge."

Marquez, who has never won at Motorland in MotoGP, says he is feeling the pressure to perform strongly in front of his home crowd this weekend.

"The feeling is good, because to arrive here in one of my favourite circuits leading the championship by 43 points you feel good. But you also feel the pressure, honestly speaking," added Marquez, who has started from pole at Aragon in all the three events he has taken part in in MotoGP.

"But I'm happy, because overall my speed on this circuit is quite good, although if you look at the last results they are not so good, but normally I feel good on this track."
