Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announces that Alex Crivillé, the winner of the 1999 Road Race World Championship in the 500cc class, has signed a contract with Honda Racing Corp. to ride in the 2001 season for the "Team Repsol YPF Honda".

Alex Crivillé participated in the World Championship in the 500cc class in 1994 as a contracted rider with Honda Racing Corp. In 1999, he participated in the "Repsol YPF Honda Team" and achieved six wins and obtained the series championship. In 2000, Crivillé, as the defending champion, has so far won the French Grand Prix, the 5th round of the Road Race World Championship series.

Alex Crivillé's words have been: "I feel very satisfied after having signed the contract with Honda and Repsol YPF for the 2001 season. Although the world championship is not going as we all expected, I'm very proud of how much trust both Honda and Repsol YPF as main sponsor have had in me for next year. I've been racing with HRC since 1994, just a year before Repsol arrived and since then, we've always be in very good terms. We've had a few good performances and achieved a 500cc world championship title together, so I'm going to stay here with them and keep fighting for the best results".
