Nicky Hayden proved today that the Laguna Seca circuit is definetily his home track as he achieved victory today in the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, eleventh round of the of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix (MotoGP). Hayden`s teammate, Dani Pedrosa, and Marco Melandri completed the full Honda podium.

The Kentucky boy attacked polesitter Chris Vermeulen and when he jumped to the lead, the American never left it go.

"I think this feels better than last year, if that's possible! Last year was perfect and it all came pretty easy but this year I really had to work for it. I want to thank the Repsol Honda team for working so hard, and Michelin because my tyres worked well today", the winner stated.

The hot temperatures of almost 40 degrees became important the riders physical conditions, an issue in which Hayden works a lot.

"Thanks to my trainer Aldon Baker. At some tracks it doesn't pay off to be fit but today was so hot and really physical. My life revolves around being in shape and getting up with the sun to train, and days like this make it worth it", he said.

A good start from sixth place and a steady pace of his Honda were the keys of Hayden`s second season victory.

"I got a really good start from the inside - I did exactly what my big brother told me and got to the outside - and it worked perfectly into turn one allowing me to pick up a few places. I tried not to go too fast too quickly to preserve the tyre because the pace was quick. And then just I tried to relax and chip away", the American explained.

Hayden repeated last year's result after 45:04.867 of competition to take the chequered flag 3.186 over Pedrosa for the 1-2 for Repsol Honda. Spanish ace Pedrosa was able to notch a fantastic result in his first appereance on the challenging and tricky circuit in Monterey, California.

Fortuna Honda racer Melandri took advantage of Valentino Rossi`s problems -- who retire with a mechanic failure in his Yamaha -- to add another podium this season.

After this victory, Hayden leads the championship with 34 points over Pedrosa, who jumped back to second place, while Melandri is new third leaving Rossi in fourth.

MotoGP will have now almost a month of break until next round to be held on August 20th in Automotodrom Brno, of Brno, Czech Republic.
