GREAT COMEBACK BY GUINTOLI WHO FINISHES IN SIXTH POSITION. ELIAS TWELFTH.
Started from the fifteenth position Alice Team rider, Sylvain Guintoli, has done a fantastic comeback which allowed him to finish the race in sixth position, his best performance of the season. The French rider has started well since the first lap, confirming his great abilities on wet surface. At the end of the first lap he was, in fact, already in tenth place. In the third lap, unluckily, a malfunction of the traction control let the warning light go on to show a dysfunctional problem and the French rider, to be safe, preferred to switch off the traction control for the remaining 28 laps. This hasn't blocked the comeback of the young rider who after passing De Puniet and Capirossi concluded in sixth position. The other Alice Team rider, Toni Elias, has meet too many problems, concluding the race in twelfth position. In only seven days he will have the opportunity to improve on the Laguna Seca circuit.
Sergio Verbena -- Sylvain Guintoli track engineer
"Today we have done a very nice race. This is really important result for us. It's from the beginning of the season that we are working hard and finally we made it to conquer a dignified performance. Sylvain is improving at each race. Unluckily we had the problem with the traction control that we still have to check to make sure it will not happen again. Sylvain, to don't risk anything, preferred to switch it off for almost all race and this result, with this track conditions, is even more incredible. Probably he could have left in on because the system finds the problem and solves it, but for how the race went we can't say anything to him. Congratulation to him and to every member of our Team for the work done in the weekend."
Sylvain Guintoli -- Alice Team rider (6th in the race -- 14th in the MotoGP Classification with 34 points)
"Surely a good day for us. This has been a weekend with ups and downs: Friday we were really fast while yesterday, after the morning fall, I felt a lot of pain in the neck and qualifying didn't go well. But today's race has gone much better, a pity only for the problem at the traction control: I preferred to switch it off to don't risk it because I felt much trustful anyway. In this way I had to play a lot with the accelerator and I had a lot of fun. I have to thanks my Team, Ducati and Bridgestone: their support has been really important to reach this result. We will continue to work well together to conquer many more good results." Toni Elias -- Alice Team rider (12th in the race -- 13th in the MotoGP Classification with 37 points)
"I think that with wet track like today is never easy. Probably we made a mistake with the set up of the bike because I felt a lot of weight on the front and I couldn't handle the rear. Only in the lasts laps I have registered acceptable lap times. This has probably been one of the worst performances I have done with wet track. The data acquired will be useful if we will meet again this track conditions. I remain positive and I will look for revenge in America."
