Forward Racing facing uncertain future after team boss arrested

The future of the Forward Racing MotoGP team has been thrown into doubt after its team boss Giovanni Cuzari was arrested on corruption and fraud charges.

Cuzari was apprehended by the Swiss authorities in Lugano earlier this week, charged with corruption of a public official to secure preferential tax rates for his company Media Action, as well as money laundering through fictitious sponsorship.

He remains in detention before he is set to appear before magistrates this weekend, which will determine whether he can be released while the investigation continues, while the accounts of the team have been frozen.

This casts doubt on whether Forward Racing – which runs Loris Baz and Stefan Bradl in the premier class and Italian duo Simone Corsi and Lorenzo Baldassarri in Moto2 – will be present at the next round at Indianapolis, which takes place on 9 August.
