Roberto Rolfo maintains sixth place on with improved performance
Mugello, Italy, June 7, 2003: Roberto Rolfo maintained his sixth place grid position at the end of the second day of practice for the Italian Grand Prix. Rolfo improved his time considerably aboard the Fortuna Honda at the magnificent 5,245km Mugello circuit and goes into the race in optimistic mood.
The work schedule at Mugello has been intense. The team worked well to cope with the asphalt at very high temperatures at the beginning of the last session but cooling towards the end, and the Fortuna Honda arrived at very positive conclusions from practice.
"We have maintained our sixth place grid position of yesterday," commented Rolfo. "We have improved by half a second and that has been made possible because of the work we did on the front end of the bike and with the chassis. The change allowed me to corner faster. The truth is I have to be satisfied that practice has gone so well, constantly improving. This makes me optimistic for the race. However, we are going to make a small change to try and make the bike even more constant," explained the Fortuna Honda rider.
"Al the work did was concentrated on finding the best possible handling from the chassis on the entry to the corner. On that point we have improved a lot." said Rolfo. "Besides that we have also improved acceleration and top speed a little. We have found what we were looking for with the engine, and that is reflected by my lap times and grid position. That's why I can be satisfied with the weekend so far."
"If the last changes we will make for tomorrows warm up are successful I think we will e in a position to run a good race," concluded the Fortuna Honda rider.
