The Estonian-Latvian twin town Valga is willing to organise one of the greatest sports events of the Baltic Republics!

According to the official application to the Dorna Off Road S.L. (Dorna), chief organiser of the Word Championship series, the Estonian Sports Club Jaanikese is willing to take the responsibility and run one of the Motocross Grand Prix competitions.

In 2001 the Motocross Grand Prix system was cardinally changed. Earlier all the solo classes (125cc, 250cc and 500cc) had their separate races numbering up to 16 per class, from the year 2001 all the races of the three classes are held together.

At least three years running

Dorna is ready to sign a 3-year agreement with Jaanikese and they propose the second weekend in July 2004 to have the Motocross Grand Prix race. The budget outcast for the GP race is 15 million Estonian Kroons. The expected number of the audience may reach 30 000 (mainly from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Russia, Sweden etc.). Jaanikese Motocentre is one of the best in the Baltic States. Next year it is going to host a June 22 Sidecar Motorcycle World Championship competition for the fifth time, there will also be a festive celebration of its 45th season.

25 million TV audience all over the world

The backbone of the competition is the television. At least 112 countries show TV programmes on the competition, the expected TV audience may reach 25 million.

Needless to say, an event of such dimensions will have an amazing effect for the region of Valga-Valka. It will also be a wonderful promotion opportunity for the Baltic States in general.
