Moto3 rider Noah Dettwiler is in a critical but stable condition following his accident at the Malaysian Grand Prix last weekend.

His CIP Green Power team’s latest social media post provided the first update since it announced on Sunday evening that the Swiss rider was undergoing multiple surgeries in Kuala Lumpur.

The latest update, which came approximately 24 hours after the previous one, read as follows: “Noah has undergone several surgeries in the last few hours, which went well.

“According to the doctors in charge, his condition is stable but still critical.

“We appreciate your understanding and ask that Noah and his family’s privacy be respected. Thank you for all your incredible support and messages.”

It was already confirmed on Sunday that the other rider involved in the accident, newly-crowned world champion Jose Antonio Rueda, has escaped with nothing more serious than concussion and a fracture in his hand.

The two riders made contact during the sighting lap ahead of the race, and were both evacuated from the scene by helicopter.

The Swiss rider has been competing in his second full campaign in Moto3 with the CIP Green Power squad, having ridden for CFMoto Prustel GP in 2024.

Francesco Bagnaia questioned the decision to start Sunday’s Moto3 race after the accident involving Dettwiler and Rueda.

“To let the young riders [in Moto3] do a 10-lap race in those conditions after seeing helicopters going away with two of them, it's not a perfect idea. I would never understand it, but it's what it is,” Bagnaia said on Sunday.

“Luckily, I'm not the one that needs to make these kinds of decisions, I think different things are done in a way that I would not do, but it's what it is.”
