Exhibition from Stoner at Donington Park
The British GP was held in changeable weather conditions -- this meant that the tyre selection was crucial. In MotoGP Casey Stoner won ahead of Edwards and Vermeulen. Rossi" fourth place means that the Australian is a little further away from him in the riders classification. In 250cc Andrea Dovizioso beat De Angelis and Hiroshi Aoyama to the finishing line. In 125cc Mattia Pasini put in a great performance and finally got a victory after a bad start to the season.
The Australian Ducati rider Casey Stoner won the British GP and strengthened his lead at the top of the World Championship classification. Tyre selection was decisive since the track dried out as the race progressed - it had been declared a wet race. Colin Edwards was second ahead of Chris Vermeulen. Valentino Rossi, on the other hand could not get any higher than fourth after riding inconsistently. The Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa, who at one point was leading the race was eighth.
Andrea Dovizioso got his second victory of the season in a race that was marked by many falls. The Spaniards Lorenzo, Bautista and Barbera were not able to finish. Alex De Angelis, who had the pole position, was second after having led the race from the start. Hiroshi Aoyama completed the podium. The Japanese Repsol Honda rider Shuhei Aoyama was fitfh. His team mate Julian Simon, fell when he was fourth, but crossed the finishing line in seventh position.
The 125cc race was declared dry and Mattia Pasini was the winner. The Polaris World rider, who started in pole position, managed to end the run of bad luck that had dogged him since the start of the season. The Japanese rider Tomoyoshi Koyama crossed the line in second position. Hector Faubel was on the third step of the podium and moves to the top of the World Championship classification, Talmacsi is just three points behind him though. Bradley Smith, Repsol Honda rider, was seventh. Enrique Jerez, a rider from the Spanish Speed Championship, put in a great debut performance and won a point.
