Alex Criville will start the British Grand Prix from the tail end of the second row, after running out of time in the final qualifying practice. The world champion had a slight set-up problem on his Repsol YPF Honda in the closing stages of the session which prevented him from improving in those crucial final moments. His team-mate Tadayuki Okada will start one position further down, in ninth place, while Sete Gibernau has claimed 14th place on the start grid.

ALEX CRIVILLE 8th 1¹33.038

"That session was okay. We found a good pace but then, in the final two minutes of the session, we encountered some front end chatter problems. With it being so late in the session, we didn¹t have any time to fix it. We ended up being just three tenths of a second too slow for the front row. It¹s a shame. We¹re checking what the problem was right now but in any case, it¹s nothing major. I¹m satisfied with our qualifying for this race. I¹m feeling comfortable on the bike. I expect the race will be very open with a lot of riders fighting together because the times are really close".

TADAYUKI OKADA 9th 1¹33.170

"It¹s still getting better little by little. We¹re at the stage where we can¹t really talk about problems as such, it¹s just that the bike is not quite as balanced as I would like. We¹ve been working on our suspension today and we¹ve made some progress. We¹re not too far off a satisfactory set-up. I feel that we¹re now getting close to the kind of solution we need. The track was perfectly dry for our session and even though the grip level wasn¹t great, it wasn¹t too slippery out there. Right now, I have one bike which I prefer and which seems to be better set-up".

SETE GIBERNAU 14th 1¹33.694

Well that¹s better than yesterday. We¹ve managed to get closer to the front guys and it seems we¹ve found a solution to our front fork chatter problems. Now, we have to work on matching the set-up to our solution in order to make the best of our progress. I¹m satisfied that we¹ve made this improvement even though I¹m obviously not happy with my current position on the grid. But everyone in the team is working really hard and they¹re really doing a great job. The important thing is that we¹re making progress every time. We¹re not standing still. Tomorrow, if I can get a good start, I might be able to stay with the others. <pre> Circuit record lap¹98: S. Crafar 1¹32.661 Fastest lap: A. Barros 1¹32.316 Pole: A. Barros 1¹32.316
