Alpine to sponsor Pramac MotoGP team from 2025

Alpine will become one of the main sponsors of Pramac when it becomes Yamaha’s new satellite team in 2025, Motorsport.com has learned.

Pramac had already announced last month that Italian insurance company Prima will remain its title sponsor until the end of the 2027 season.

Now, Motorsport.com can report that Prima will share the spotlight with Renault’s sportscar division Alpine, the brand which also competes in Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship.

This isn’t the first time that Pramac has had a tie-up with F1. In 2021, Jorge Martin and Johann Zarco sported the series’ official logo on the rear of their Pramac-entered Ducati bikes. The initiative was a result of shared interest and friendship between Pramac boss Paolo Campinoti and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, who saw it as an opportunity to do a crossover between the two championships.

Even in this case, the sponsorship agreement between Alpine and Pramac is borne out of Campinoti’s strong relationship with Renault CEO Luca de Meo. 

It is clear that de Meo considers MotoGP an attractive opportunity to promote car brands. During his tenure as a director of the Fiat Group, the company was the main sponsor of Yamaha, with its logo displayed prominently on the bikes of Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo between 2007-10.

The deal between Pramac and Alpine will run over a long term and will come into force just as the Italian team ends a two-decade relationship with Ducati.

As Ducati’s primary satellite team, Pramac enjoyed immense success in MotoGP, powering Jorge Martin to the 2024 riders’ title after winning the teams’ championship last year.

However, starting in 2025, it will enter a new collaboration with Yamaha, where the Japanese brand will aim to replicate the strategy of its Italian rival by supplying full factory-spec bikes.

It is expected that Pramac will showcase the livery of its new Yamaha M1s at the official pre-season at the Sepang International Circuit on 5-7 February. That’s because championship promoter Dorna has organised its official 2025 photo session at the same track in Sepang just two days prior to the test.

The team will compete in 2025 with former race winners Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira, both of whom are directly contracted to Yamaha.
