Alex Marquez got his “revenge” on Turn 10 in Barcelona, claiming victory in the Catalan Grand Prix and raising the middle finger at the corner that had cost him a likely MotoGP sprint race win.
The Gresini rider was on course for victory in Saturday’s sprint race but made a mistake into the tricky left-hander and ended up on the ground.
However, just a day later, he bounced back from the setback to win the showpiece event of the weekend in Barcelona, outduelling his factory Ducati-mounted brother Marc Marquez by 1.7s.
On the cool-down lap, Alex Marquez stopped on track at Turn 10 and purposely rolled over in the gravel, before punching the ground to mark his victory.
He later joined Marc at Turn 12 where the pair savoured their 1-2 result in front of their home crowd.
“The most special [moment] was Turn 12, for sure, because it was in front of the fans and everything,” he said.
“But when I was going to turn 10, I said I need to make [a stop]. I hated that corner today and I said I need to take revenge. I did the roll and [showed] both middle fingers, like, ‘you are here but today I won’.
“Before the race I already thought that if I win I need to make that. And then I was there I [showed the] fingers, like ‘f**k off’.”

It was Alex Marquez’s second career victory in MotoGP, following on from his success at the British Grand Prix in May.
The Spaniard didn’t put a foot wrong on Sunday, describing the result as the best response to own self-inflicted crash in the sprint.
“Still that mistake is painful in my head, but it was the best way to forget that.
“Also, I need to say that mistake helped me to win today because I was already braking so late in that corner and I made that mistake.
“I’m really happy how I managed the race [today]. It wasn't easy to keep Marc behind for 24 laps.”
Speaking to TNT Sport, he added: “Already in warm-up, I quite forgot the crash from yesterday. Because it’s good advice that maybe if it didn't happen yesterday, it would happen today.
“Better yesterday that we lose less points and keep the championship alive.”
