First day of qualification for Yuki Takahashi and JiR Team Scot
The unstable weather conditions have characterized the first day of qualifying practice for the Italian Grand Prix. The Mugello circuit was constantly wet today as the rain fell down without a break. JiR Team Scot was dedicated to developing the Honda RS250RW and to choose the right tyres to use for today's qualifying and also for the race on Sunday. If the weather doesn't change and the sun doesn't come out from behind the Tuscan Hills this weekend, then Yuki Takahashi is satisfied and confident that the good work done today could be very important for him and the race.
Gianni Berti - Technical Coordinator, JiR Team Scot
"The team of Yuki did a very good job today in difficult weather conditions. They didn't find the fastest laps, but they prefer to go by the balance of the bike. Also if the rain does stop I think that Yuki is very motivated for the second qualifying day tomorrow to obtain a good position on the grid and embark upon a race where he will be up there with the top riders."
Yuki Takahashi - Rider, JiR Team Scot 250GP

"During today I tried to find the right tyres to use in case of rain over the rest of the weekend. The rear tyre I have chosen, but with the front we have a dry solution but we have not a lot of time to finish the job in practice today. The tyre was new and I knew I could be fast, but I needed three laps to be ready to do the fastest lap on the tyres. Unfortunately the final flag came out and that was it! With the gearbox we have tried different solutions and for tomorrow it depends on the grip conditions as to which one we will choose. For the race if it rains I think I could be in the top group but if in the next few days it's dry we have to consider the settings and start again! Either way, Mugello is a circuit that I like and for tomorrow I want to improve in any case to get a good position on the starting grid."
Yutaka Hirano - Chief Technician, JiR Team Scot
"With Yuki and the team we did a lot of hard work to choose the right tyres, obviously for the wet conditions. We also set the carburettor and Yuki is satisfied about the settings. But for the gearbox we have to do some more work but we have all tomorrow's qualifying day to do the last checks."
