Herrera handed Valencia Moto3 wildcard chance
Maria Herrera will again be present on the Moto3 grid for this weekend's Valencia finale after being handed a wildcard with the Cuna de Campeones squad.
The 21-year-old Spanish rider was left without a full-time ride when the AGR squad collapsed earlier this year, although she was handed a reprieve when the Aspar Mahindra team needed a replacement for the injured Albert Arenas at Phillip Island and Sepang.
However, with Arenas back in action for Valencia, Herrera has been able to secure a ride for the season finale with the Cuna de Campeones outfit aboard a 2016-spec KTM.
Cuna de Campeones' only previous outing this year came when it ran Spanish youngster Jaume Masia at Aragon, which yielded a 21st-place finish.
"I want to finish the season with a bike that I know well and at a track where I have ridden a lot and I feel very comfortable," said Herrera.
"I'm looking forward to taking to the track and I'm sure the team will do the maximum."
Herrera, who rose through the ranks with the Cuna de Campeones programme from 2004 to 2011, has a scored a best finish of 15th this season, having managed only 19th and 24th in her two races for Aspar.
