Bulega undergoes surgery after Valencia practice crash
Valentino Rossi protege Nicolo Bulega underwent surgery on a broken ankle on Friday night, the result of a crash during Moto3 practice at Valencia.
Two-time Moto3 polesitter Bulega was involved in an incident with compatriot Niccolo Antonelli at Turn 3 in the closing stages of second practice on Friday, fracturing his right ankle.
After a check-up at Valencia hopsital, the 18-year-old was taken to the Hospital Nisa Pardo de Aravaca in Madrid to be operated that evening by Dr. Angel Villamor. The operation was a success.
The injury curtails Bulega's season, preventing him from taking part in this weekend's season finale and next week's post-season testing at Valencia on 20-21 November.
With a best finish of fourth at the Sachsenring this year, Bulega lies 11th in the Moto3 points with a race left to run, having also taken pole position in last month's Motegi race.
