Kiefer Moto2 squad names Kent's Jerez replacement
The Kiefer Racing Moto2 team has announced Italian rider Federico Fuligni will take Danny Kent's place for next weekend's Jerez round.
CEV Moto2 regular Fuligni, 21, will partner Dominique Aegerter on Kiefer's second Suter bike at Jerez, following former Moto3 champion Kent's shock decision to part ways with the German squad in Austin.
Fuligni has made seven appearances in Moto2 over the last three seasons, his best result being 18th in last year's Jerez and Misano races.
"This, of course, is a great opportunity for me, which Kiefer Racing offers me at the Grand Prix in Jerez next week," said the Italian, who rides for the Forward Junior team in CEV Moto2.
"I’m very pleased and thankful for that. Racing in the World Championship alongside the fastest riders is always very special. In addition, this commitment also means my comeback aboard a Suter bike.
"Everything will be new for me, with a new team and an unknown crew which means different conditions so far. Nevertheless, I will try and do my best to get familiarised as quickly as possible to this new environment as well as I will do my best at any time."
A statement from Kiefer said the team had yet to settle on a permanent replacement for Kent.
