Aegerter launches Moto2 crowdfunding campaign

Moto2 rider Dominique Aegerter has launched a crowdfunding campaign to cover "additional expenses" for his Kiefer Racing seat.

Aegerter's place on the grid was only confirmed this month after the future of the Kiefer team was plunged into doubt following the late pull-out of an investor.

The German squad, which lost co-founder Stefan Kiefer during last year's Sepang round, was forced to slim down to a single KTM entry for Aegerter, leaving second rider Sandro Cortese in the cold.

While the bare minimum of funding has been secured to ensure Kiefer can race in 2018, Aegerter is now looking to raise an additional 200,000 CHF (210,000 USD) to cover extra costs such as spare parts, logistics and transport, test days and fitness training.

The crowdfunding programme begins on Wednesday and will continue for 50 days.

“Switzerland has an incredible tradition in motorcycle racing and I want, with the help of Swiss sport fans, to continue this history," said Aegerter.

"I am ready, to give it my all. The support of my fans means a lot to me and motivates me even more to outgrow myself.”
