FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Jan. 26, 2002) The basic 2002 racing schedule for the St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington, Mo. has just been released with numerous special events.
The first event of the year will take place on Saturday, March 23 (raindate March 24) with the annual St. Francois County Raceway Car Show at the Wal-Mart Super Center parking lot in Farmington (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.). Then following a Test & Tune date of March 30th (free admission to grandstand and $10 to pits), the 2002 season officially begins on Saturday, April 6th with all four class participating (sprint cars, modifieds, hobby stocks and 600cc multis). The Mini Stocks will be the first special visiting group to make an appearance for the season on April 13th.
There will be a wild weekend of action at SFCR on Memorial Day weekend. First on Friday, May 24th, the Winged Outlaw Warriors will take part in a special Friday night show with all four other classes, plus there will be an extra-special payout that night for the 600cc multis. On Saturday and Sunday night (May 25-26) the Second Annual Mid-Missouri Monster Truck & 4x4 Jamboree will be held.
June 1st will be a double-points night for all classes, plus $2,000 to win the sprint feature. The MARA Midgets will visit the St. Francois County Raceway on June 15 and on that night both the midgets and the sprint cars will qualify. There will be lots of fireworks on July 6th with a 50-lap hobby stock feature and fireworks show. Ken Schrader and the UMP Late Models will be at SFCR on Wednesday, July 24th (other classes tba). There will be a special modified show with additional payout on August 24th (with other special events tba for that same evening).
There will be a special Labor Day weekend two-day show (Aug. 31-Sept. 1) with the Winged Outlaw Warriors returning for a second show of the season and the 410 sprint class winner receiving $2,500 to win. The final major event of the season will take place on Sept. 28th with the winning sprint car taking home a cool $5,000. There will be numerous other special events taking place throughout the season that have yet to be announced.

There will be no Saturday night racing at SFCR on June 8th (County Days Concert with Mark Wills and Daryl Worley) and on Aug. 3 for the St. Francois County Fair (however there may be a racing program announced later for this date).
