TQ Midgets Set for Round Two of Indoor Championship
(Niagara Falls) The second race in the four race Northern Motorsports Indoor Midget Racing Series will help bring in the new year when the green flag falls for the 50 lap A-Main on Saturday, January 5th at the Niagara Falls Convention and Civic Center located in downtown Niagara Falls, New York. The first race produced an exciting and entertaining event as ISMA star Greg Furlong prevailed over a talented field of TQ racers. Furlong will be back to try to extend his lead in the standings, with $15,000 in point fund money in the offing at series end for the top performers. Several top drivers, who missed the first race due to mechanical difficulties, are expected for the event, including New Jersey area ISMA standouts "Liquid" Lou Cicconi and Joey Payne. Canadians Dave McIntosh from Bradford, Ontario, and Dan May from Caledonia, Ontario, who finished second and third in the inaugural event will be joined by former champions Mike Stahl from Wheatfield, NY, and Mike Tidaback from Little Falls, New Jersey in the highly competitive field. Hall of Fame sprint car star, Jack Hewitt, from Troy, Ohio will also be returning.
Also on the card will be several classes of karts, with Brett Stratford from Mount Hope, Ontario, who swept all three stock classes expected to return to try to duplicate his feat. Other stars like modified pilot Bob Baker from Holland, and Sportsman II phenom Erick Rudolph from nearby Ransomville should also be on hand. Close to sixty karts were in the pits for the first show.
Gates open at 1:00 with practice, time trials, and kart heats. Racing begins at 6:30. Admission for adults is $14.00, with those under twelve $6.00. Join us in Niagara Falls on January 5th. The third race will be held on January 26th, and the series concludes on March 9th. For group sales, reservations or more information, call promoter Harry Macy at (716)-832-4419.
