MERSHON BUYS NAMARS; HOLDEMAN TO BE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SPEEDWAY, IN, January 11, 1999 - Effective January 1, 1999, the NAMARS sanctioning body has been purchased from Jack and Rose Calabrase by JBT Interests, Inc. of Speedway, Indiana. NAMARS corporate headquarters will now be located in Speedway, and day-to-day business operations will be under the direction of Joe Mershon and Jami Traska. Mershon and Traska are experienced small business people with past and current business interests in retail sales, commercial contracting, marketing, graphic design, commercial printing and most importantly - auto racing. Their motorsports experience spans over thirty years, most recently as car owners and competitors with the No Limit Racing national midget team, and as series promoters with the NAMARS / RALLY Super Truck series launched last season. This experience, coupled with a close working relationship developed with the Calabrase's during the 1998 racing season, bodes well for NAMARS' continued success. NAMARS' fundamental operating philosophy and mission statement that Jack and Rose Calabrase have formulated over the past five years in producing the NAMARS success story will remain intact and be closely adhered to. The family environment and personal relationships with all of it's members, competitors, sponsors and promoters have been key to NAMARS' past success, and paramount to it's strength and continued growth in the future. There are several new faces being added as the NAMARS staff continues to expand. NAMARS welcomes Linda Holdeman, formerly of Winchester Speedway, as NAMARS Executive Director, and Michael Urban as Director of Marketing. Both will be on board at the end of this month. Additional new positions are currently being filled in time for the 1999 season. As of this writing, the 1999 NAMARS rule book is on its way to press and will be available in a couple of weeks. The 1999 season schedules for the NAMARS National Midget Series as well as the NAMARS/RALLY Super Truck Series are in the final stages of completion, are filled with exciting venues, and will be released shortly.

A press conference is scheduled for Thursday, January 14, 1999 in conjunction with the Autosport '99 radio show hosted by Don Kay and Gary Lee at the Brickyard Crossing Resort located on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Please contact NAMARS at (317) 248-1240 for further information. posted by Len in Indy
