It was tough weekend for top stars at Indy's busy little speedway. From Midgets to Late Models new faces claimed the Winner's circle.

Thursday, June 14 - - - Donnelsville, Ohio's Teddy Beach in his rookie season with the NAMARS Midgets regional series and two other high-schoolers took the podium finishes from a field that included past champions from NAMARS, USAC and other open-wheel clubs. Indy's Bobby East and Noblesville, Indiana's Billy Wease followed Beach. All three are graduates from the Kenyon Midgets where Shawn Stout won over Justin Allgaier and A.J. Ganino.

Friday, June 15 - - - The Carmel Sod Modifieds 50-Lap feature heralded a rare 3-generation Family Feud as 2000 champion Billy George lined up on the grid with son Scott and grandson Timothy. The elder Georges tangled with a backmarker at mid-race handing the lead and the win to Chad Warweg who held off Doug Greig and points leader Jim Begley.

T.J. Sneva had been carrying his uncles "bridesmaid" title for most of the season but finally got the laurels as he took the Race City Auto Sales Legend Car 35-Lap main over a hard-driving Mike McGreevy and points leaders Doug Greig and David Sutton. The Bandoleros main went to James Robertson.

The working class heroes of the Yardarm Bomber Figure-8's crowned a new winner in Steve Todd while the Sunshine Cafe Roadrunner features went to James Huffman and Jeff Johnson.

Saturday, June 16 - Bill Tunny Jr. had made it a tradition in recent years to win a feature for his father's birthday. Bad luck earlier this season forced him to settle for a new tie, but Father's Day was a sweet present for Dad. Tunny took the 50-Lap Bryant's 76 Late Model Figure-8 feature with a strong drive over R.J. Norton Jr. and Rodney Sizemore. The oval portion of the program went to Bobby Whitaker.

Former champion and second in 2001 points Jack Dossey Jr. sustained a hand/wrist injury in the evening-opening trophy dash but was home recuperating at press time.

The Chuck's Race Car Parts Stock 25-Lap oval was a romp for Joe Sheedy while the Sunshine Cafe Roadrunner mains went to Skip Reddy and Scott Camhi.

The Sunshine Cafe Roadrunners celebrate two champions each season with the first of 2001 to be crowned this weekend. Jeff Smith has dominated the series since the second weekend but heads up steady work from Jeff Johnson has placed him squarely in contention. The April/May/June Champ will be officially recognized at the Fireworks program on June 30th.
