SUN PRAIRIE, WI, August 11---Scott Hatton scored an exciting victory Sunday Night, winning the 25-lap Badger Midget/NAMARS Midget co-sanctioned feature at Angell Park Speedway. Davey Ray, and Aaron Fike, are now tied for the lead in the Badger points, with three events remaining.
Hatton jumped into the lead at the start, and when the first caution appeared hled a slight advantage over Fike, and Tom Hessert. Hatton survied three caution periods over the next seven laps for stalled cars, each time maintaing his lead. Action was halted on the 15th lap, when Thomas Meseruall flipped. The California driver was uninjuried.
On the restart Ray retired from the event with driveline problems. With Hatton pulling away a great battle for second waged between Hessert, Fike and Mike Hess. Fike took over second with four laps remaining, and trailed Hatton by 1.27 seconds at the finish. For Hatton it was his first win of the season driving the Dwight Huston owned Stealth-Brayton#15. Fike, Hess, Aaron Fiscus, and Hessert rounded out the top five finishers.
Ray and Fike are now tied , while third place Hess now trails the pair by only 67 points. The next Badger event will be next Sunday Night at Angell Park, the Governors Cup 50-lap race. Aaron Pierce continues to lead the NAMARS points heading into the start of the Indiana Five Crown at Lawrenceburg Speedway on August 14.
